Testing your emergency lighting systems

25 Jun 2012

By their very nature, emergency systems are not used very often. After all, if they were, they wouldn’t be referred to in this way. However, despite the fact that you may hope not to have to use them frequently, or indeed at all, it’s vital they are always in perfect working order.

If and when unexpected situations arise that place people and property in danger, you need to be able to act fast. This is why it pays off to invest in the appropriate electrical inspection services. For example, you might benefit from getting your emergency lighting system checked out.

These illuminations can prove vital in a range of scenarios. For example, they can be used to guide people out in the event of a fire. Meanwhile, London Transport recently relied on the lighting like this to enable more than 700 passengers to walk along Tube track in the English capital. A train had broken down and consumers had to alight the carriages and walk for nearly a mile in the subterranean conditions until they emerged at St John's Wood station.

Here at Elecheck, we’re experts when it comes to electrical testing and we can test your lighting systems in accordance with BS5266-8:2004.

During these electrical testing and inspection sessions we’ll check each luminaire in emergency mode and inspect mains indicators to ensure they’re fully energised. Also, we’ll provide full recordings of our findings in a log book and produce a certificate of inspection. To find out more, just take a look at the relevant section of our website.
